Variety has reported that Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to adapt the Japanese manga series, Death Note into a live action feature.
The 13-volume series focuses on a college student who accidentally finds a misplaced "death note," infusing him with the power to kill merely by writing anyone's name on the page while picturing the person in his mind.
The film will adapt the first three volumes. There has already been a trilogy of films produced by Warner Bros. Japan that are considered an entirely different entity than this production.
The series has also been adapted into anime.
Check out trailers for the anime and Japanese films after the jump.
