Get Hope

I was talking to my buddy, cartoonist Captain Rog Petersen and during the conversation he pointed out that I hadn't mentioned the new Bob Hope postage stamp that was issued on May 29th on what would have been Hopes 106th birthday.

Hope had spent a significant part of his life entertaining enlisted troops across the world and in 1997 he became the first person recognized by the U.S. Congress as an “honorary veteran of the United States Armed Forces.”

What the general public seems to have forgotten that before the countless USO performances, Hope was a world class comedian and comedy actor who appeared in dozens of movies, stage and radio shows and hosted the Oscars eighteen times.

Here's Old Ski Nose in 1947's My Favorite Brunette.
