AICN has a tip from a reader regarding some signage being prepared for next month's Comicon.
On black, with crimson/red text in the same font lettering that Smallville uses, and transparent grey Superman "S" watermark behind the text:METROPOLIS
CHRISTMAS 2010
Then at the bottom is a banner advertising the Smallville presentation, with the time/place.
Now, it's inferred that there is a direct-to-dvd sequel to the current Smallville series being prepped. Personally, I don't think that this is a bad idea, just a little too late.
Smallville is going into it's ninth season and the last few years have definitely shown signs of it's age. The problem with the show is that original producers Miles Millar and Alfred Gough's original mandate had a "No Tights. No Flights" rule. Certainly not bad for a series that probably was expected to last five years.
That was four years ago.
It's outlived the feature film reboot/debacle with Superman Returns as well as the departure of most of it's original cast.
When the series is good, it's great. Unfortunately it's only good a few episodes a season.
At the same time, it would be rather nice to have the series end with an appropriate epilogue and possibly a strong budget.
And a final appearance by Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor.
