Boba Fett? Boba Fett?

Yes, Boba Fett, the most beloved of all bounty hunters.

But where did this character come from?

The look originated from Production Designer Joe Johnson for The Empire Strikes Back. Working alongside Ralph McQuarrie, Johnston was designed Boba Fett's distinctive armor and equipment (inspired in part from the early concepts of Darth Vader.)

According to Johnston, "Originally, Boba Fett was part of a force we called Super Troopers, and they were these really high-tech fighting units, and they all looked alike. That eventually evolved into a single bounty hunter."

The all-white Supertrooper was revealed to Lucasfilm insiders for the first time on June 28, 1978.

Check out the amazing test shoot HERE.

As revealed on the Official Star Wars Website, Fett made his first public appearance at San Anselmo's Country Fair parade on September 24, 1978.

This was two full months before his appearance on The Star Wars Holiday Special.

The character's mythic presence only grew when Boba Fett was the first new, mail-away action figure created exclusively for The Empire Strikes Back; although advertised as having a rocket-firing backpack, safety concerns led to the figure being sold with his rocket attached creating an Urban Legend of injured children .

The enigmatic bounty hunter's limited screentime only added to his mythological status among Star Wars fans everywhere.

Viva la Fett!

I always heard that the kid actually choked on a rocket fired from a Battlestar Galactica Viper toy!

I heard the same RJackson. All those shooters were then taken off the market. I had a Fett figure with a sticker over the back to hide the instructions on how to use the shooter.

BTW, Boba Fett was based on the "outsider evil guy" from American Graffiti - Bob Falfa (Harrison Ford).
