It took quite a while for this survival thriller to get going. The main characters are certainly more sympathetic than those in Open Water and The Blair Witch Project, but issues of plausibility run rampant (e.g., There are no other tourists in the Grand Canyon to run into? Why don’t use the sun as a guide to get out of there?). Eion Bailey and Yvonne Strahovski, especially, shine in the latter half, and their acting is what sells this man vs. the elements predicament. Tension might have been set higher were this film placed in a less conspicuous setting.
