Oh, Yogi Bear, I love you so. Which makes this announcement a bit of a concern.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Anna Faris is in negotiations to star in the Warner Bros. adaptation of the Hanna Barbera animated series, Yogi Bear. The film, which will be a combination of CG-animation and live action will focus on Faris' character, a nature documentarian who sets her sights on Yogi and his sidekick, Boo Boo. Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake are negotiating to voice the caniform couple.
Ummm...Aykroyd and Timberlake?
Why not cast Daws Butler, the legendary voice artist who created the character of Yogi Bear back in 1961? And maybe Tom Kenney (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Boo Boo who has played the character on several occassions since 2002.
Yogi Bear doesn't need celebrity voices. They need people to bring these classic characters to life.
And get rid of Faris and get Steve Carrell on the phone to play Ranger Smith.
