This project couldn't have been done without a lot of help.
I've frequently discussed with one of my best friends, screenwriter Bill Walker the nature of "watchability". There are certain movies that if you come across on television or cable that suck you in and keep you in their tractor beam regardless of how many times that you might have seen them already.
Jaws is my favorite film.
I own both dvd releases, but I see the film more frequently while flipping and finding it playing on WTBS, or AMC.
I was talking to Bill a few months ago when we both compared notes that we had seen the Jessica Simpson vehicle, Private Valentine, and how even though it wasn't very good, it was watchable and perhaps better than some other films that had gotten a wide release.
This list is not a list of the greatest films of all time (which I do think some of the contributor's forgot), but rather the one's with the greatest watchability.
Approximately 100 people contributed their suggestions which led to a list of approximately 1,000 films. That list was condensed by the number of votes received. The final number of films with tie votes were voted on by a small select committee and that final tally is the list that you will see.
That final list was sent out again to the initial voters who made comments on the films. The final 26 films will be ranked and the first 75 presented are in no particular order.
Special thanks to everyone who helped make this happen including past and present contributors to this site, Kurt Jansson, Mike Allred, Kyle Jackson, Seth Levi, Evan Gore, Robert Meyer Burnett, Josh Muehlman, Gene Gallagher, Sam MacDonald, Bill Walker, Scott Richard, Brook Durham, Alex Vaello, Angus MacLane, Brian Saner Lamken, Eugene Johnson, Mark Drop, Dutch Southern, Jimmy Palmiotti, Dwight L. See you tomorrow!
