Art Toys on the iPhone: Idle Hands

The wonderful Brian Slivka, over at Plastic and Plush, had discovered exactly what the Devil does with Idle Hands.

With glorious timing (see last fortnight’s post), YIPE 5! is the fantastic three-way fusion of vinyl, gaming and your trusty iPhone – a perfect timewaster for long train journeys or that painful Christmas stay with relatives that drive you nuts.

Featuring zombie rabbits, doughnut masters and an epic storyline by game designer Kevin Kinell, the game stars Mr. Sisson’s art toy Idle Hands – running amuk in a world of adventure. Design your own hero, fight your way through the beasties, track down the cheeseburgers and listen to the fantastic soundtrack by musician Andrew Woods - YIPE! 5 – Attack of Idle Hands is the brainchild of Mr. Sissons, Kinell and Woods himself… and lurking on a certain Apple must-have gadget near you.

Pick your hero – warrior, thief or thrower of fireballs – talk to the King to gain the inside scoop on local Questage… then explore, fight, shop and level up just like any good ol’ RPG. There are plenty of puzzles to keep your character hopping and the interface is simple enough to be compelling. Just look out for Idle Hands himself!

In YIPE! World, Idle Hands is your arch-nemesis. He’s armed with horns and a spiked tail, magic fingers and dancing feet – and a charm offensive that will take all of your wit to defeat. Slightly closer to home, you’ll find that he’s a 10” tall vinyl character who epitomises Mr. Sisson’s fascination with all things both persuasive and repugnant – and comes boxed (for safety reasons, I would imagine, who knows what he could do if he got loose in the post) as well as accompanied by his own coaster, decorated with the initial character concept-sketch.

In the flesh – erm, plastic – he’s a very limited edition, available in three colourways. On your iPhone, his presence and power are limitless and he’s just waiting for you to amass enough beasties, treasure and levels to kick his virtual, tail-bearing butt.

It’s the holidays – long lay-in mornings, sleepy boozy afternoons, evenings of leisure because you know you don’t have to get up… it’s time to download a bit of personal indulgence.

Just to make sure, that, you know…

…you’re not sitting around with idle hands.
