Anna Chlumsky joins VEEP pilot for HBO

HBO apparently is trying to snap up cute-girl child actresses of the early ’90s. True Blood already has Anna Paquin, and Claire Danes wowed critics with the Temple Grandin movie.
Now the it’s-not-TV network has landed Anna Chlumsky. The My Girl star is set to star opposite Julia Louis-Dreyfus in comedy pilot Veep, Deadline reports.
Veep follows ex-Sen. Selina Meyer (Louis-Dreyfus), who becomes vice president. Chlumsky plays her chief of staff Amy, who will of course be both capable and insecure – ah, the subtle mix. It is Chlumsky’s second project with pilot creator Armando Iannucci, after she was in his 2009 film In the Loop.
Now come find me again when HBO announces a series from Danica McKellar (hot math genius by day, Maxim-modeling hot math genius by night) centered on her girls-love-math book Hot X: Algebra Exposed.
