STARGATE UNIVERSE canceled

The Stargate is closing, for now.
Syfy recently announced Stargate Universe will not be renewed for a third season. The last 10 episodes of the action-adventure series will run next spring.
That means 2011 will be the end of an era at Syfy, which has aired a Stargate series – SG-1 and Atlantis – since 2002.
When I think SyFy (or Sci Fi Channel, for us old-timers), I think of Stargate. Somehow, that little movie with Kurt Russell and James Spader kept on kicking, and Syfy was there all along.
But Syfy will continue to be quite busy. Even though it also canceled Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica, it did greenlight another prequel, Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome. The U.S. version of Being Human will fill the SGU hole, and new series Alphas is on the way as well.
