WHY JOEL FLETCHER’S 1982 STOP-MOTION SHORT, ‘ENCOUNTER’ Is Better Than Some CG Flicks From Today

Now, don’t get me wrong. The advancements in digital special-effects are amazing and can create world so life-like that it can spark your imagination into hyper-drive.

But that aside, there’s a certain beauty with stop-motion animation when it’s done well that today’s CG just can’t bring to the table.

And Encounter by Joel Fletcher is not only done well, it’s f*cking amazing.

So, go back to an era when special effects consisted of foam latex and people shooting one frame at a time and enjoy.

‘Cause if James Cameron got a hold of this, it would suck balls.
