BOSTON COMIC CON WRAP UP

The Boston Comic Con is over, and the event brought some of comic’s greatest to town, many of whom shared some interesting tidbits on what’s coming.

  • Darwyn Cooke is working on a new book designed only for e-readers.  It will utilize the technology to make it a more immersive experience.  There will be at least a five year moratorium before it is released in print.  Cooke feels that electronic publishing is the future and wants to make a serious commitment to it.
  • The awesome Ming Doyle has illustrated the upcoming graphic novel, Tantalize: Kieren’s Story, written by Cynthia Leitich Smith out in August.  It’s subject matter?  Vampires and werewolves.  I hear teenage girls like that stuff.
  • DC Comics will be releasing a 6-issue anthology series titled, Joe Kubert Presents, which is expected to be solicited soon.  Joe is putting the series together, doing some of the stories and has hand selected the artists involved.  At least one story will be written by former DC President Paul Levitz.
  • Joe Quinones is working on a Zatanna/Black Canary graphic novel written by Paul Dini.
  •  DC Comics Art Director Mark Chiarello teased that the plans for the post-Flashpoint DC Universe are huge.
  • Darwyn Cooke is working on a new, unannounced project for DC.
  • Howard Chaykin is working on Marked Man for Dark Horse Presents and a prequel to Black Kiss.
  • Joe Kubert will be writing and drawing a new Sgt. Rock 6-issue mini-series focusing on the back stories of the members of Easy Company.
  • J. Scott Campbell is working on some interiors for Amazing Spider-Man.
  • Frank Quitely is finishing 10 new pages for the new edition of WE3.  At that point, Grant Morrison promises him a script to Multiversity.
  • Adam Hughes promises that All-Star Wonder Woman will happen.  “One day.”
  • Sean “Cheeks” Galloway is working on a graphic novel for Wildstorm.
