HORRIBLE BOSSES Helmer Talks His WARGAMES Reboot

Last week MGM announced that director Seth Gordon was attached to direct its remake of WARGAMES. Gordon recently directed HORRIBLE BOSSES which sees release next week and is also known for helming the documentary THE KING OF KONG: A FISTFUL OF QUARTERS.

While promoting HORRIBLE BOSSES, Gordon sat down with Hero Complex to discuss his take on WARGAMES:
“A lot of things have changed technologically and geopolitically since the original. It’s ripe for an update. It’s a more plausible chain of events now than it was back then. The source of an international political threat is no longer a nameless faceless country with a different political system. The world has changed so much that that kind of threat could come from a number of places.”
Gordon mentioned he's been researching hackers, much in the same way he did gamers when prepping for KING OF KONG:
“I’m a bit of a hacker nerd. I have an interest in subcultures. There’s sort of a blurry ethics for people who are going places where laws aren’t yet even written to govern behavior. I think that’s a fascinating question and that’s the kind of stuff I want to get at in the reimagining of the movie. Hackers are obviously really savvy people. I’m trying to come at it from a very educated place rather than dilettantism.”
WARGAMES is (again) headed your way whether you like it or not, though the film's release date and screenwriter have not yet been set.
