Happy 91st Birthday today to legendary genre writer Ray Bradbury.
Last week The Hollywood Reporter announced that his 1957 semi-autobiographical novel, Dandelion Wine, would be adapted to film.
Bradbury was more than enthusiastic, “This is the best birthday gift I could ask for. Today, I have been reborn! Dandelion Wine is my most deeply personal work and brings back memories of sheer joy as well as terror. This is the story of me as a young boy and the magic of an unforgettable summer which still holds a mystical power over me.”
Among Bradbury’s large bibliography of novels, screenplays, plays, short stories and comics include The Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Illustrated Man, The Veldt, A Sound of Thunder, The Illustrated Man, and The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit.
Forces of Geek wishes Mr. Bradbury a happy and healthy birthday.
After the jump watch Bradbury in 2001 deliver the keynote address of The Sixth Annual Writer’s Symposium by the Sea where he tells the audience about his life and love of writing in “Telling the Truth.”
