A Nineties Nostalgia Show Being Made For ABC

While a nineties nostalgia show may have me feeling old, it also seems to be what ABC wants.

THR reports that ABC is creating a series about a "super cool" nineties girl band written by Seinfeld's Jennifer Crittenden and Scrubs' Gabrielle Allan. In the vein of Spinal Tap, the show hopes to focus on comedy over music.

The Bangles and The Go-Go's are listed as inspiration.

The new show, still untitled as of now, is set in the present day as the band is trying to reunite after two-decades of hiatus that were apparently very bitter, they have also lost some coolness over the years. The show is set to focus on second chances for a band that once almost made it big.

Crittenden explains, “We’re excited about what happens to a real dream when you have to walk away ... Now it’s 20 years later and they’re wearing Sketchers [sic] and mom jeans and they’re trying to pursue this dream.”

The band will now have to take gigs at venues they would have turned down twenty years ago and will most likely reach a level of fame only through some sort of viral video.
