STEVEN SODERBERGH Swallows THE BITTER PILL

Just a week and a half after dropping out of directing a big screen version of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. due to casting and budget disagreements, Soderbergh has found his next project.

According to THR, Soderbergh will direct The Bitter Pill based on a script by U.N.C.L.E. scribe Scott Z. Burns. This will mark the third collaboration between Soderbergh and Burns, having already worked together on The Informant and this year's Contagion.

Details about The Bitter Pill are being kept under wraps, but it's being described as a thriller set in the world of psycho-pharmacology.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing the film along with Soderbergh's longtime AD/producing partner Gregory Jacobs and Burns.

Dropping out of U.N.C.L.E. would have given the hardest working director in Hollywood a few months off between his upcoming stripper drama Magic Mike and his HBO Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra, but it looks like Soderbergh wanted to fill that time up with another film and that's fine with me.

Soderbergh is currently in post-production on Magic Mike, which is set to open in theaters on June 29, 2012.

Haywire, the director's latest effort will open in theaters on January 20, 2012.

Check out the badass trailer for Haywire:
