J.C. Chandor made his directorial debut with Margin Call earlier this year. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival where it received good, but not great reviews.
Fast forward to a couple of months ago and the film has caught a second wind and it has since earned some awards season accolades. While the major awards haven't included the film in any of their nominations, it has received nods from various guilds.
Deadline is now reporting that Chandor will follow up Margin Call with All Is Lost, a film described as a man vs. nature drama that takes place on the water and Robert Redford (Jeremiah Johnson, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) is in talks to star in the film.
Chandor had met Redford when he was at Sundance with Margin Call and he was so impressed with Redford that he wrote All Is Lost around the veteran actor, using Redford's role in Jeremiah Johnson as an example of the single character focus All Is Lost will have.
Like Margin Call, Zachary Quinto's (Star Trek, Margin Call) Before the Door company will produce the feature and Chandor is hoping to begin production on the project by next May.
Redford is currently shooting his latest directorial effort The Company You Keep.
Margin Call will be released on Blu-ray and DVD next Tuesday.
