FX Is On The Fence About What To Do With POWERS

The future of comic book adaptation Powers is uncertain at this moment as FX decides what to do with the project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, at the TCA, FX president John Landgraf gave an update on the project, most notably saying "We didn't pick the pilot of Powers up." Landgraf is also not a fan of the source material and says this is the most difficult adaptation he's worked on.

Based on the Image/Icon series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, the story is centered around a cop that focuses on cases that have to do with Powers, or those with special abilities.

Right now the script is going back to Chick Eglee and after rewrites, the pilot would "require pretty extensive reshoots." About those reshoots, Landgraf said, "Right now we're in the process of deciding whether to pull the trigger on the reshoot."

The decision is expected to come within the next couple months. While Landgraf had troubles with the project and it's source material he also said, "Difficult adaptations interest me but this is a really hard one."

He also noted that a serious superhero drama at the 10 o'clock time slot hasn't really been done before, that said, he also said "It can be done, it's just proving really difficult."
