Josh Trank, the director of Chronicle is now set to develop and direct The Red Star.
According to Deadline, the graphic novel adaptation will be written by Jason Rothenberg with Trank directing and working with Rothenberg to develop the film. Neal Moritz will be producing with Original Film.
Universal once had the project in development, but decided to drop it allowing Warner Bros to pick up the sci-fi fantasy. Rothenberg, who will be adapting the comic books, most recently wrote the script for The Twilight Zone.
Trank’s directorial debut, Chronicle banked $116 million with only a $12 Million budget. With the success of that film he’s also been signed on to work on a reboot of the Fantastic Four at Fox, and Venom, the Spider-Man spinoff over at Sony.
