Zombie Hockey? No, It's Just ROB ZOMBIE Making BROAD STREET BULLIES
Rob Zombie is really changing his style of movie. Now he'll be writing, directing, and producing the hockey story Broad Street Bullies.
The story is about the creation of the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team and their rise from an expansion team stuck at the bottom to a team that started to bank some wins and penalty minutes. The Flyers were known for being a brutal team during the 70s and even kept some teams off the ice simply because the others were afraid to go up against them.
“Each character involved is more outrageous than the next,” Zombie said. “The backdrop of the turbulent year of 1974 is perfect for this ‘stranger than fiction’ sports tale.”
Zombie is known for his music and then his transition into horror films like House of 1000 Corpses and Halloween. Zombie recently picked up the rights to the story and the team's support for the film. He said it would be like a cross between Rocky and Boogie Nights as far as tone is concerned.
