ROBOCOP Adds JACKIE EARLE HALEY To Cast
Robocop is getting a reboot an it looks like Jackie Earle Haley has signed on to play a guy named Maddox. He's the one who dispenses the military training to Robocop, played this time around by Joel Kinnaman. Jose Padilha is set to direct with the rest of the cast being filled out with names like Gary Oldman, Hugh Laurie, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, and Jay Baruchel.
KEVIN COSTNER Looks At Joining MCFARLAND
Disney's sports drama McFarland has started casting with Kevin Costner being the first one looked at for the lead. Niki Caro is directing the true life story based on the life of 1980s coach who creates a high school track team in a predominantly Latino small town that overcomes many different challenges and eventually becomes champions. The producers behind films like Miracle, Invincible, and Secretariat are also attached to the project.
MICHAEL GLADIS Toplines Sci-Fi WITHOUT WARD
Joining Martin Landau and Harold Perrineau, Michael Gladis from Mad Men is the latest to join the sci-fi romance Without Ward from director Cory Cataldo. The story follows a "dysfunctional family being forced into a never-ending life of house arrest. In the world of this film the only form of government is essentially lawyers with guns who control everything.
EMILE HIRSCH Is The LONE SURVIVOR
Emile Hirsch is ready to take on the world in Lone Survivor. The story is a true account from Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, who also wrote a book about his time in the Hindu Kush mountains of Afghanistan where he was pinned down with the rest of his team and had to fight their way back to safety with the Taliban constantly trying to destroy them. Luttrell will be writing the script alongside director Peter Berg. The rest of the cast includes Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch and Ben Foster.
KENNETH BRANAGH Is The Villain Of The JACK RYAN Reboot
Jack Ryan is another character that is getting a reboot and today Kenneth Branagh has confirmed that he will be the villain in "an original story that allows us to understand how Jack Ryan develops into a CIA analyst before becoming part of the CIA. Chris Pine is signed on to play the lead role in the film based on Tom Clancy's novels. Branagh is a Russian villain trying to wreck the U.S. economy.
NEAL MCDONOUGH Looks At Part In RED 2
Red 2 is looking at Neal McDonough to join the team of retired extremely dangerous characters. He would join returning cast Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, and John Malkovich as they search for a weapon of mass destruction created by a man who starts out in an insane asylum.
AML AMEEN And JAMES MARSDEN Added To THE BUTLER
James Marsen is JFK in the upcoming film The Butler. Aml Ameen is also a new addition to Lee Daniels' true story film. Ameen will play a younger version of the title character. Based on the life of Eugene Allen, a servant at the White House who worked for the families of Eight different presidents. Forrest Whitaker will portray the character when he makes his way into the White House. The film also sees a return to acting for Oprah Winfrey and a big name cast that includes Liam Neeson, John Cusack, Alan Rickman, and Jane Fonda.
FRED WARD Picks Up 2 GUNS
2 Guns has added Fred Ward to the cast alongside Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington. In the action thriller, he will play "a top-ranking U.S. Navy admiral. Based on the graphic novel, the story follows a Navy SEAL and a DEA agent who work together to steal millions from the CIA, neither one of them knows that the other is working undercover.
JOSH HOLLOWAY Has Some PARANOIA
Josh Holloway, who may be best known as Sawyer from Lost, is joining the thriller Paranoia as an FBI agent investigating the companies that are part of a conspiracy with blackmailing, espionage, and sabotage. Based on the novel by Joseph Finder the film also stars Liam Hemsworth, Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, and Amber Heard. Robert Luketic is directing with a script from Jason Dean Hall.
SPIELBERG Wants CHRIS HEMSWORTH For ROBOPOCALYPSE
With plenty of secrecy surrounding the plot, setting, and casting of Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse, it's being said that Chris Hemsworth is taking on a lead role in the action thriller based on the novel by Daniel H. Wilson. The story revolves around the entire human race as they try to survive a robot uprising.
Fox Adapting Short Film RUIN By Wes Ball
Fox has picked up the rights to the animated short Ruin, with the plans to turn the 8-minutes from Wes Ball into a live action movie that Ball would also direct with McG producing. Set in post-apocalyptic city that's been overgrown, the short has an I Am Legend quality that's heavy on chasing and light on story. Fox is hoping to turn the film into the start of a franchise.
HAYAO MIYAZAKI'S Next Project Will Focus On WWII Fighter Pilots
Hayao Miyazaki is one of the biggest names in anime and now some of his producers are talking, or rather tweeting, about his latest project. It's a biographical story that follows the life of Jiro Horikoshi, the man behind the Zero fighter plane that was used by Japanese forces for many years including the attacks on Pearl Harbor. According to the tweets "not the sort of work that everyone in the audience can relax and watch".
BEN STILLER And JONAH HILL Say ALOHA
Shawn Levy is working with Ben Stiller and Jonah Hill as they team up for the Hawaii-set comedy Aloha. Fox is looking at developing the project with a script from Nicholas Stoller who is still in negotiations. The idea was created by the trio when they were working on The Watch. Mostly everything about the film is still unknown.
