DALLAS STARS GOALIE, RICHARD BACHMAN Will Be Sporting A Stephen King-Styled Mask This Season...And No, It Isn't Based On 'The Running Man'. Although That Would Have Been Cool

In one of those strange "When Worlds Collide" moments, Dallas Stars back-up goalie Richard Bachman (not to be confused with King's alter-ego Richard Bachman) will be encasing his noggin in a protective mask with various iconic scenes from The Shining on one side of it:

While the other side has the Stars logo on it with an image of the Overlook Hotel's octagonal carpet embedded in the "star" portion:

The helmet/mask combo was designed by artist David Gunnarsson (with help from Goalie Bachman).

And while The Shining appeared under King's real name and not Bachman's, this shouldn't undermine the coolness factor one bit, although a helmet with various scenes from The Running Man might have made better sense, especially if you could emblazon Richard Dawson's face on one side:

Still, Shelley Duvall's face should strike the right amount of fear in an opponent's heart which is really all that counts in the end.
