Whenever I host a get-together I always create some kind of play list on my iPod to help design the evening's backdrop. I don't necessarily try to subliminally direct my guests into evoking a particular outcome via the song styling of say, John Denver, but I do like to see what would happen if I dropped some Wu Tang in between tracks from the Buena Vista Social Club soundtrack.
And yes, there is usually some fanny-shaking going on.
But in this version of Donna Summer's disco hit, I Feel Love, the formally eight minute song is stretched out to an epic forty-four minutes, transporting it into the realm of the sublime.
Now, I don't exactly know how I would build an entire evening soiree around this particular version but I'm pretty sure it would involve a hookah and some kind of sweet tobacco.
I guess we'll just have to see how it will all turn out.
Video after the break.
And here's the original version:
