There may be a lot of rock stars out there who have donned a particular persona in order to garner interest in a listening public, but very few of those acts were actually any good. Luckily for those of us who remember David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust days (which gave birth to a rather delightful androgynous alter ego if I do say so myself) we were privy to a truly spectacular bit of showmanship that fucked with the minds of our parents on a level that has seldom been seen since.
And in this edition of the PBS web-series Blank on Blank, Bowie talks about those glam-filled days to journalist Joe Smith (from back in 1988).
So get ready for a history lesson boys and girls ’cause we’re going on a bit of a Space Oddity.
Video after the break.
