Candy Apples…Toffee Apples, during this time of year one’s deeply disturbing yearning for apples covered in a sticky substance grows exponentially. No one knows why this is, or where this desire to bite into a sweet/tart fruit thing (and becoming momentarily fused with it) comes from but, like most weird cultural traits, we go with the flow without asking ourselves why.
And in this possibly death-inducing toffee apple treat, you get to mix deliciousness with a little bit of Disney villain that will delight both young and old alike.
The traditional mixture still applies in this recipe (Granny Smith apples, sugar, water and light corn syrup) but adds only one ingredient that takes these babies up to Maleficent-level…black food coloring.
If you would like to make up a batch of these, head over to the Simply Delicious blog for a step-by-step how-to and start creating some evil treats.
Just don’t hand them out to trick-r-treaters…for some reason parents don’t think “Poison Toffee Apples” are funny.
