Showmasters London Film And Comic Con Returns 27 – 29 July – With Megan Fox, Jason Momoa And Many More Special Guests

Showmasters London Film and Comic Con is set to return to the UK this summer across the 27th to the 29th of July 2018 – and is billed to feature special appearances from a wide range of famous movie stars, TV characters, authors and comic book illustrators.

On the official website, event organizers are claiming to expect a massive footfall of over 100,000 film fans, collectors and cosplayers from around the world over the weekend. The show will also feature immersive and interactive zones dedicated to the expansive worlds of video gaming, cosplay and comic books.

The Location

The three-day event is set to take place at the famous Olympia venue, located in the Hammersmith district of London. Due to the huge event space’s popularity, it even has its own underground station located right outside the venue, making rail the easiest option for those coming in from out of town. Non-London natives looking to experience the surrounding area over the weekend are in luck as there are a handful of bars and English pubs nearby; such as the no-nonsense Victorian ale-house Beaconsfield or the traditionally wood-panelled The Albion. London is also known for its expansive and lively food scene, with a range of restaurants serving up different types of cuisines close to the venue. For those planning to stay the night in the capital, no matter their hotel location, they will be able to grab a bite on their commute or sit down for a healthy breakfast London style.  Those who are wanting to get straight into the action and are not too fussed on how healthy their breakfast is, Deliveroo recommends The Diner in nearby Soho.

Special Guest Appearances

Throughout the weekend, movie fans will also be able to grab an autograph from some of their favorite actors and actresses, including everyone from classic sci-fi villains, to recently released blockbuster heroes and big-budget television names. So far confirmed appearances include the likes of Transformers star Megan Fox; Peter Mayhew, famous for his role as Chewbacca in the Star Wars franchise, The Rocky Horror Picture Show’s very own real-life rock star Meatloaf, and Justice League’s six-foot-four Hawaiian born Aquaman, Jason Momoa. TV enthusiasts will be able to get close and personal with not one, but two Doctors from the long-running British science fiction show Doctor Who, as both Christopher Eccleston and Peter Capaldi will be in attendance.

For those visitors who have been captivated by the American HBO hit fantasy Game of Thrones, there will be an opportunity to meet the actors who portray many of the show’s most popular characters over the three days. To name just a few, these include the likes of Iwhan Rheon who plays the cruel Ramsay Bolton, the giant warrior hound Rory McCann, the evil Ice King portrayed by Vladimir Furdik, and Winterfell’s all-seeing son Brandon Stark, played by Isaac Hempstead Wright.

Comic, Books and Merchandise Haven

Comic Book collectors and illustration enthusiasts will also be able to meet the likes of freelance illustrator artist Huy Truong; alongside famous DC, Marvel and 2000AD illustrator Lee Townsend, whose credits include Judge Dredd, Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man and World of Warcraft. Huy Truong, who has worked on Sketch cards for the likes of Star Wars and big Marvel projects, is said to have books, prints and original artwork available for fans to purchase. Comic book traders and dealers will also be in attendance giving visitors the opportunity to bag vintage and hard to find issues, or brand new independent releases. Not only that, but the show is set to accommodate a wealth of fiction authors, all of whom are listed on the official website. Merchandise enthusiasts can rest assured they will be well catered for throughout the weekend, as the event organizers promise their extensive list of exhibitors will be able to provide many rare movie-props, obscure toys and hard to find collectables on their stalls.

So, no matter whether you’re on the looking for a collection finishing costume piece, to try your hand at the latest video game releases or fill the first page of a fresh autograph book, Showmasters London Comic Con is set to be a fun-filled weekend for geeks of all kinds.
