Batman is getting married to Catwoman! And until he does, we are going to get a bunch of wedding tie-ins on how different characters react to this news!
The latest of these is another one-shot which was a lot more fun than last week’s offering.
Like last week’s first tie-in, Tim Seeley has written this issue. Yet, he seems more relaxed than he’s been in recent years in crafting this story.
The opening scene is a Superman robot driving a limousine. We are told that it’s Batman’s bachelor party! Nightwing and Superman are both there because they are the groomsmen, of course!
So where do they go?
Why not, Bat Burger?!
Nightwing, rented out the joint so it’s sure to be a good time. This was great.
Seeley even had Superman joke that “Superburger in Metropolis came first.” It’s little touches like this that really make the issue something really great.
But then Hush comes from nowhere holding a big bazooka and things get crazy. Needless to say, Batman and Superman are removed from the fight from outside reasons and this leads to Nightwing going face to face with Hush!
The fight is pretty decent. Travis Moore does a good job moving the story along. There were some great moments between the two. It resolved itself in a pretty obvious way but that’s okay. There’s a nice conclusion where Dick and Bruce discuss his choice for who will be Batman’s Best Man. It does a great job acknowledging the history and friendship of these characters.
The epilogue with art by Otto Schmidt was pretty interesting. We just have to see where it goes (Well, odds are next week’s tie-in ‘Batgirl vs. The Riddler’.
This is still decent enough entertainment. The character moments are what makes it work best. I hope the rest of these side stories are as good as this one is.
