This series has been one hell of a crazy ride! Joshua Williamson has taken this Allan Quatermain type of character and has gone crazy with it. When you add on the art of Riley Rossmo, you can’t help but love it. This has been one hell of an enjoyable read with some passionate, wild art.
Antonio Luna (the Quartermain-like character) has gone after his ultimate goal.
That goal? To travel to the moon!
And so he travels there! He goes there with Valentine Richards! And he’s so happy about it!
He even says my favorite line of the entire series with “I’ve never been so erect!” It’s hilarious and well written!
He gets to the moon and he meets his final adversary!
The “confrontation” is not one of action. It’s one of emotion. That leads into the rest of the book. It also leads to Antonio’s final fate.
And that final fate hit me hard. It’s so super sweet I almost cried. The writing is so precise and perfect here. It’s so beautiful in a way comic books rarely are. The final moments on the rocket ship between Luna and Valentine are some of the best moments in comic book history. Seriously, it’s that amazing.
What can I say about Riley Rossmo that I haven’t said before? I love this guy. His artwork is incredibly graphic and unique. You can tell with every picture he draws that he just loves it. That’s a guy I can really get behind. His artwork is stellar.
I’m sorry this book is ending. These six issues are memorable, however. I’ll be buying the trade when it comes out. Thumbs up.
