OK, see, now that’s what I’m talking about.
It took a little bit, but things are finally coming together for our misfit family of adventurers.
All it took was a trip to the Dark Multiverse, the planet BGZTL, and the Kingdom of Elements, along with a giant space squid, a War Wheel, a magical plague or two, and of course that whole can’t get more than a mile from each other without going Kablooey thing.
That and Jeff Lemire’s deft hand with character development, and team building moments, a none-too-serious taste for humor, the fantastic, and the absurd, and a penchant for surprises.
Sure, it took a couple of months. But the pay-off is everything you want it to be.
Misfits they may be, but there’s no question that our kooky quartet is a bona-fide team by the end of the latest issue of The Terrifics. Kicking butt, taking names, saving the day. And taking care of their own. Looks like they do it all.
And now they even have their very own evil mastermind nemesis to contend with. One who’s been pulling their strings all along. Just like any adventuring quartet of the unknown and the fantastic anywhere should have.
Who knew?

I’m thrilled to see him back together with artist Joe Bennett in these pages as well. Bennet’s work is dramatic and stylized and a lot of fun. A perfect complement to Lemire’s touch. I hope he’ll be sticking around now that he’s back.
And now I believe we can get down to business. Dark dimensions? Deep space? Magical realms? Heck that’s all been just prelude. Time for a little inter-dimensional alternate-earth hopping!
Off to save the greatest hero of another world. And family.
