This is part four of the “Target Batman” storyline and it’s a doozy.
The Batman of the future has villains hunting him in the streets and it’s very thrilling. Dan Jurgens has upped his writing a notch and has been doing stellar work on this title. This issue continues that trend.
This issue starts off with Bruce and Jack Ryder in the Batcave trying to get the Matt “Robin” to listen to them. Bruce orders Matt to wait for his word. He wants Matt to save the crowd. Then, we cut to the street and it becomes crazy.
Batman is facing off against the Scarecrow.
He’s causing the people of Gotham to see things that aren’t there’s as usual with his fear has. As such, they are seeing Batman as a real demonic threat! And they want him taken care of!
The fear gas from the Scarecrow has hit the people of Gotham hard!
Terry eventually escapes all of this. With Matt’s help, he even eventually makes it back to the Bat-cave. This angers the Scarecrow even more. He then wants to increase the level of gas out there! Things are looking pretty bleak!
Terry and Matt eventually make their way back to the city to continue the fight. But they crash the Bat-plane. And it appears Matt has been hit with the Scarecrow’s gas. This leads to him attacking Terry! It’s all very exciting.
Jurgens is doing a great job. The art by Will Conrad is the best this book has had. Check out the opening sequences of Terry brawling with the people of Gotham and trying to escape. It’s awesome. This comic has been great. I’m excited to see how this team finishes this story off.
