The “Target: Batman” storyline finishes up here! It is an amazing conclusion to the storyline too. Terry has everyone in Gotham after his head and he may not survive this time! The odds are against him and now we are in sudden death overtime.
Batman is falling to his death at the beginning of this issue. Can he prevent his own death?
Even if he does, the Robin of the future is after his head. It’s a particularly gruesome opening that Jurgens and Conrad handle well.
Terry is saved by Melanie in a really cool moment.
Melanie might be the only friend Terry has left. She seems immune to the Scarecrow’s fear toxin. Together they surf off and seem to get away.
But wait! That damn Robin is relentless and just seems unstoppable.
Meanwhile Jack Ryder is up against the new version of the Scarecrow, who seems to be a woman named Adalyn. Bruce is trying to help Terry out. Terry and Melanie fight against Robin trying to take him out without killing him. Things are really coming to a boiling point!
At the very end, Terry makes a decision to reveal himself to the Robin. It’s an emotional scene that Jurgens handles extremely well. It also serves to wrap up the story in a satisfying way. The ending is also ominous and creepy. It looks to be leading somewhere great.
Jurgens is a great fit for this title. I wouldn’t have thought so at first but this has been great. Conrad is the best artist this title has seen. This has been a solid book month in and month out and I think this was the best storyline yet on it.
