Cool Shirts Back To School With 80sTees.com

There’s no doubt that the boldest and most personal fashion statement anyone can make is in one’s selection of t-shirt.  Personally, I love them.  It’s an opportunity to show the world what pop culture I care about, a wonderful flashback to the past and a fantastic way to initiate any nerd discussion.

For this installment of Cool Shirts as thousands of students return to school, I took a look at some of the newest shirts from 80sTees, which was the first 80s memorabilia online store and has now become a prime destination for pop culture tribes everywhere to come together and share their geekery!

80sTees sells more than shirts.  Among their wares are socks, costumes, ugly Christmas sweaters, hoodies and more.

These are a few of my recent favorites:

Alfred E. Neuman Mad Magazine T-Shirt

What me worry?

This summer, Mad Magazine rebooted after seventy years in print with a new editor (Bill Morrison) and a whole new gang of idiots joining the “usual gang of idiots.”

And thankfully, the biggest idiot of them all, Alfred E. Neuman is still there, front and center.  Based on a classic Americana advertising icon (which dates back to 1894), Neuman has appeared on every Mad cover since issue #30.

This shirt instantly will make your love for Mad Magazine stand out and help solidify the community of morons who think of Neuman as a hero!

Mister Miracle DC Comics T-Shirt

Created by Jack “King” Kirby, Scott Free is the greatest escape artist that ever lived. So great that he escaped Granny Goodness’ gruesome orphanage and the dangers of Apokolips to travel across galaxies and set up a new life on Earth with his wife, the former female fury known as Big Barda. Using the stage alter ego of Mister Miracle, he has made a career for himself showing off his acrobatic escape techniques. He even caught the attention of the Justice League, which counted him among its ranks.

You might say Scott Free has everything…so why isn’t it enough? Mister Miracle has mastered every illusion, achieved every stunt, pulled off every trick—except one. He has never escaped death. Is it even possible? Our hero is going to have to kill himself if he wants to find out.

That’s the premise of the latest Mister Miracle series (That’s the cover to issue #1 on the shirt) as depicted by Nick Derrington and authored by Tom King and Mitch Gerads.  Show off your love of Kirby’s Fourth World (soon to be a movie by Ava DuVernay) with this awesome shirt from an equally awesome story!

Swamp Thing T-Shirt

Dr. Alec Holland had all the answers… he was an intelligent man… but Alec Holland is dead… and in his place stands only a… SWAMP THING!

Created by writer Len Wein and artist Bernie Wrightson, comes this beautiful shirt of Swamp Thing!

In comics’ grand tradition of Muck Monsters, Swamp Thing first premiered in July 1971’s House of Secrets #92 before getting a solo series (which the duo collaborated on for the first ten issues) that focused on scientist Alec Holland, who found himself transformed into Swamp Thing after an explosion doused him with chemicals and threw his body into the Bayou.

Now, seeking the men who murdered his wife and caused his transformation, Swamp Thing fought against evil as he sought a means to transform back to human form. This iconic run features the debut of supernatural characters such as Dr. Anton Arcane, The Patchwork Man and the Un-Men, as well as an appearance by Batman.

This shirt captures the majesty of the one of the coolest characters in the history of DC Comics!
