The penultimate issue of this series starts off with a bang. Michael Cray comes face to face with the creature pulling all the strings. From there, we see Michael is beaten and in the hospital near death.
It’s a great set up for the issue and it left me intrigued.
Michael needs to figure out what it is Diana Prince wants and more importantly, how to stop her. So then, we see a flashback to when Diana was a child. We see her father die in a bed right in front of her.
Then, we cut to years later where Diana is on a yacht.
We see a tryst with her and an alternative version of Lex Luthor. Diana is after some secrets and she will stop at nothing to get them. This scene is particularly chilling and shows how good a writer Hill truly is.
In the next scene, we see Diana terrorizing the alternative version of Doctor Fate. She kills his loved ones. It is here we see the brutal nature of who Diana is. We then see the series of events that has her track down and work with Constantine.
Then, we cut back to Cray. He is being tormented by the demon from the beginning. He knows he has to kill Constantine. There’s a brutal scene that ends the issue and man, does it set things in motion. This issue isn’t for the faint of heart.
Especially the ending.
The story is strong and the art by Harris is just great. This has been a solid book overall from issue to issue. I can’t wait to see how the creative team wraps this up. It’s very compelling.
