‘The United States Vs. Murder Inc. #3’ (review)

Written by Brian Michael Bendis
Illustrated by Michael Avon Oeming
Published by DC Comics

This Brian Michael Bendis book is phenomenal. It slowly sneaks up on you and tells an amazing story.

An act of terrorism against the President of the United States starts off the issue and it’s quite a beginning. From there, the craziness goes into overdrive!

Because that act of terrorism, the President acts out. She puts her foot down against the five families. They are all against the wall now and have no choice but to strike back!

So how do the families decide to handle the President?

Well, they assign the new members of the family to do the task. Valentine Gallo and Jagger Rose are assigned to strike back on behalf of the families.

But ahead of them are twists and turns that they don’t see coming.

And that’s a good thing for the reader.

Meanwhile, throughout the issue, assassins are trying to take out the five families. Nobody is safe. The issue continues along those lines. At the very end of the issue, we see Jagger Rose go into a meeting with the head of one of the families. He gives her an assignment. It is time to take matters one step further.

He assigns her to kill the President.

The writing is tops on this title. And Oeming is a great collaborator with Bendis. His pictures here are great and expressive. This is a book that isn’t talked about very much but it’s damn good. The story and art are just awesome.

RATING: A-
