‘Detective Comics #1005’ (review)

Written by Peter J. Tomasi
Illustrated by Brad Walker
Published by DC Comics

This book has been out of this world. Peter J. Tomasi has been doing a hell of a writing job on this comic, and every issue has been something incredible.

This is the finale of the Arkham Knight Saga, and man, is it a doozy. This is an exciting comic book to read and I literally could not put it down during this storyline. It’s something great indeed.

It starts off with Batman and Robin headed towards the Arkham Knight at the Gotham County Observatory. They know that they have to stop the Knight from unleashing a weapon on all of Gotham.

So the dynamic duo just go for it.

They land and have to fight some of the Knight’s minions like Anton Arcane and Doctor Phosphorus.

These fight scenes are beautifully choreographed by artist Brad Walker. He has been doing great on this title and in this issue, he just kills it. The fight scenes and the energy in the art are unbelievably fantastic.

We then get to see the Knight’s ultimate plan. They have decided to blind the entire city! It’s a crazy and horrible moment and the creative team make you feel it. I could not look away!

So finally, Batman has to go up against the Knight. Their fight is a little too abbreviated for me, especially after everything we have been through in the past few issues. But it’s a small complaint. Mostly because I have a feeling Tomasi is just getting warmed up with the Arkham Knight character.

Detective Comics is back where it should always have been.  What I mean by that is, it’s as good if not better than than the main Batman title itself. Tomasi has brought the book back up to that level of quality. Now let’s keep it there.

RATING: A
