Joaquin Phoenix and David Letterman meet again

Remember this hot mess? Of course you do. But now that the cat’s out of the bag on this hoax of Andy Kaufman-like proportions, what would happen when Joaquin Phoenix and David Letterman met again?

Phoenix returned to Late Show With David Letterman — clean shaven — on Wednesday night for the first time since his February 2009 beardo-rapper appearance. And he had a lot of explaining to do since he was revealed as an act for the Casey Affleck-directed hoax-documentary I’m Still Here.

“Who’s idea was it?” Letterman asked. “And the idea being, what?”
