The Pitch

The Review
Somehow, The Goonies became twenty-five years old.
And although I’m hesitant to call it a classic, it certainly has all the makings of one, including a rabid cult of fans. The Goonies perfectly captures not only the era of the mid Eighties, but also is universal enough that it continues to gain young fans.
Nevertheless, revisiting it again, it’s hard not to smile and even harder not to question why no one makes movies like this for kids anymore. It’s pure wish fulfillment fantasy and it works. The plentiful extras include cast commentary with Director and all seven actors, The Making of the Goonies documentary, Cyndi Lauper music video “The Goonies ‘R Good Enough”, Outtakes, a new board game, original movie storyboard reproductions, 1985 souvenir magazine reprint, and reprint of 2009 Empire Magazine article with cast photos and updates.
Whether nostalgic or have kids of your own, The Goonies is a must have edition of a modern classic.
