Lucy Punch Gets POWERS

THR reports that Lucy Punch has been cast as the female lead in the pilot for Powers.

The FX series is based on the comic book by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming.  Punch will play Deena Pilgrim, a rookie detective in a world where superheroes exist.

Pilgrim and her partner Christian Walker work in the Powers division of police force investigating superhuman crimes. The series opens with a murder investigation of super-powered celebrity, Retro Girl.

The part of Christian Walker has yet to be cast.

According to a post by Bendis on his message board, “I can tell you unequivocally that she destroyed in her auditions. she will not be playing British. she’s playing it just like the characters written.  She completely transformed herself into Deena.”

Oeming agreed, “Yea, she killed in her audition. Came in all British and then ripped out the Deena. Impressiveness abounds!”
