THE SAD TRUTH ABOUT FERRIS BUELLER

When I first watched Ferris Bueller’s Day Off I was stunned by how cool skiping school could be (if I happened to live near Chicago and had access to a sports car) and desperately wished that all the days that I spent playing hooky were as exciting as Ferris’.

But fast forward a couple of decades and, well, watching old Ferris trying to get out of his office job for a day is kinda depressing.

Let’s face it, skipping work is sort of a let down on the excitement barometer when you are in your late thirties and no one gives a shit about you and you are very, very poor.

But then again, nothing puts a smile on my face faster than pretending to have the Ebola virus for the fourth time so I can re-watch the third season of How I Met Your Mother all in one day while eating Cocoa Pebbles out of the box with a spoon.

You have to grab happiness somewhere.
