THR reports Alex Tse is attached to write the script for The Crow, a remake of the 1994 film of the same name. Relativity Media will be producing and they have called this new version of the film a “reinvention”. The original film was based on the comic book series by James O’Barr.
Bradley Cooper (The Hangover 1 & 2, The A Team) is set to star as Eric Draven, a man who returns from the grave as The Crow to exact revenge on the gang of criminals who murdered his wife and himself. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Intacto, 28 Weeks Later) will be directing.
The original film was directed by Alex Proyas (Dark City, I, Robot) and starred Branden Lee (Rapid Fire) who was shot on set while shooting a scene where another actor shot a pistol at him. The gun used was not approved by the weapons coordinator who had gone home early that day. A bullet head from an inert round was lodged in the barrel of the gun, unknown to the cast and crew. When the gun was fired, the force of the first blank (which were loaded in the clip) propelled the bullet head with enough force to shatter Lee’s spinal cord, he died several hours later.
The Crow is currently streaming on Netflix, in HD no less.
