Regardless of what my opinions are of this final installment, the Harry Potter film series has given audiences an almost unparalleled opportunity to see character (and actors) mature for a decade on screen.

This installment picks up almost immediately from Part I, and chronicles the events leading to the final confrontation between the “Boy Who Lived” and “He Who Shall Not Be Named”.

My biggest criticism is that the film glosses over a number of characters who have little more than a cameo, some unfortunately before their death.  These are characters that we’ve been watching for some time and their deaths are significant despite the lack of given screen time.

Part of me feels that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II, although flawed, finishes a tale that audiences have placed an emotional investment with, and does so admirably.

The final film in the series is far better than the first.

How many film series can you say that about?
