After putting himself in no man’s land for a while after his mockumentary I’m Still Here, Joaquin Phoenix has a trio of potentially great films on the horizon.
Currently, he is shooting Paul Thomas Anderson’s (Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood) next picture, The Master along side Phillip Seymour Hoffman and he is going to reteam (for the fourth time) with James Grey (The Yards, We Own the Night, Two Lovers) for the period piece Low Life.
Twitch is now reporting Phoenix has been hired as the lead in Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman’s (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation) next project, which at the present time is untitled.
The storyline is being kept secret, but Deadline previously reported it to be “a satire about how world leaders gather to figure out all the seismic events that will take place in the world, from oil prices to wars that will be waged.”
Spike Jonze will direct the picture from a Charlie Kaufman penned script.
This is great news, it’s been way too long since we have had a film from this brilliant duo!
