THR is reporting that Bruce Willis has entered negotiations to join the cast of G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation. He is reportedly up for the role of the original Joe.
Willis would play the role of General Joe Colton, who in the original 1980’s comic was the man who created the G.I. Joe elite team, called the ultimate freedom fighting force and got the alias of G.I. Joe.
Jon M. Chu (Step Up 2: The Streets, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never) is directing this time around from a Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) script.
If things work out for Bruce, he will join a cast that includes: Chaning Tatum as Captain Duke Hauser, Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock, Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, Ray Stevenson as Firefly, Ray Park as Snake Eyes, Joseph Mazzello as Mouse, Jonathan Pryce as the U.S. President, and Byung-hun Lee as Storm Shadow.
The film will begin shooting later this month in New Orleans and Paramount has set a June 29, 2012 release date.
