SHAWN LEVY Already Has Ideas For REAL STEEL Sequel

Even though it has only just premiered to press in London, director Shawn Levy is ready to get to the next movie in the potential Real Steel franchise.

The robot boxing movie may have just come out, but bleedingcool reports that Shawn Levy already has plans for a sequel that include class warfare and the evolution of the relationships between characters in the film.

Scriptwriter John Gatins has already been given the order of writing up a second screenplay to the film that premieres October 7th in the US, October 14th in the UK. Levy’s ideas are most likely already being included in the film, here’s what he had to say about the making a sequel:

We really fricking hope so… Some of the notions we’re playing with… for instance we went very anthropomorphic in both the design and the movement of the robots in this movie, I think we can really blow that out. The class warfare between underworld and WRB(World Robot Boxing), that’s something that seems rich. The evolution of this father and son’s relationship, and Hugh’s relationship with Evangeline…

Of course, most of this hinges on how well the film does in the box office, but it’s likely that Dreamworks and Disney have nothing to worry about. The action and star power of the film should be enough.
