Hi, what are you looking for?

A new Battlestar Galactica movie is on the way, and now it looks like Emmy nominated writer John Orloff is closing a deal to write the script.

According to Deadline, Universal Pictures is almost finished with a deal to get Orloff writing. The new movie is based on the original 1978 series by Glen Larson. At the moment Universal is only looking at a script commitment.

The original show revolved around a group of traveling humans that survived a surprise attack as they go through space trying to navigate to Earth.

The project had early interest from Brian Singer who wants to direct the project. Orloff told Deadline “I have wanted to write this movie since I was 12 years old,” adding, “I love BSG, and I would pass on the job rather than frak it up.”

While Singer is currently directing the dark fairy tale Jack the Giant Killer, now that Orloff is attached, the project can move forward now and hopefully go into production sometime soon.

Orloff just came off the project Anonymous which he scripted and executive produced. He has also worked on films like A Mighty Heart and Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole.
