Hi, what are you looking for?

According to THR, Summit Entertainment will remake the Dutch horror/thriller film Zwart Water with Charlize Theron attached to star in and produce.

Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) will direct the feature from a script written by his Emily Rose collaborator Paul Boardman (Urban Legends: Final Cut, the upcoming Poltergeist remake).

Zwart Water follows a nine-year-old girl who figures out that her new friend is not only sinister, but is also her mother’s dead twin. Theron will play the girl’s mother, who is described as “not right in the head”… awesome!

The film was released in Europe last year and was renamed Two Eyes Staring when it played international theaters, most recently at Fantastic Fest last month.

Theron will next be seen in theaters on December 16th starring in Young Adult, the latest film from Jason Reitman (Juno, Up In the Air, Thank You For Smoking). Next year she will star in Rdiley’s Scott’s Prometheus as well as in Snow White and the Huntsmen.

Derrickson last directorial effort was the lackluster remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, he is currently directing Sinister, a horror film starring Ethan Hawke and Vincent D’Onofrio.
