Variety is reporting that the horror film Silent House will be released in theaters on March 9, 2012.
Silent House premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival and it’s a remake based on the 2010 Uruguayan film La Casa Muda.
The film stars Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene – younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley) as a young woman who’s trapped inside her family’s secluded summer home she is renovating.
The remake is being co-directed by Chris Kentis and Laura Lau (Open Water) and the gimmick in the film, as in the original, is that the whole film is made up of one continuous shot… Lau also penned the script.
Open Road and Liddell Entertainment bought the film after it premiered at Sundance and choosing to open the film in early March is a smart move. There’s already a ton of buzz about Olsen being nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her starring role in Martha Marcy May Marlene, which is sure to build interest for Silent House.
