According to Deadline, Burton has been looking at the Ransom Riggs novel that was acquired last year by 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment. He will possibly be directing the adaptation he will also be part of the search for writers.
The novel is the story of 16-year-old Jacob who was told many stories by his grandfather about a strange orphanage that housed unusual children. Some of the residents include a pyrokinetic girl, telepathic twins, and a kid whose feet have never touched the ground.
Jacob eventually goes on a trip after his grandfather dies and finds Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children on an island near Wales. He finds out that the kids may have been more than just strange, but also dangerous. He also feels like they may still be around the home.
Other names attached to the project are Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark, and Jenno Topping as producers. Burton recently wrapped Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp. He is currently directing the full version of his short animated film Frankenweenie.
