Paramount Buys Rights to Novel TIGER’S CURSE

Another movie based on a book. This time Paramount has acquired the rights to the book Tiger’s Curse.

According to Deadline, the studio has picked up screen rights to the novel by Collen Houck. The project is being produced by Disruption Entertainment’s Mary Parent along with Raphael Kryszek.

The story of the novel is centered around the live of a 17-year-old girl who cares for a white tiger at the circus as a temp job. She discovers that the tiger is actually a cursed Indian prince who is only human for 24 minutes a day.

This whole discovery leads to an adventure in strange exotic places in India and meeting up with Hindu gods.

In a rare story of amazing success with e-book self-publishing, Houck originally sold the story through Kindle Books and it reached number one. It was quickly picked up for print by Splinter when it’s popularity was noticed. Now it has been translated into 15 languages and is high ranked on the NYT Children’s list.
