It’s surprising that this stage didn’t come between the books and the film, but now comic publisher Vertigo is making The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo into a graphic novel.
According to Variety, the DC Entertainment imprint is working with Stieg Larsson’s estate and Hedlund Literary Agency to create the adaptation. Denise Mina will be writing the book with art coming from Leonardo Manco and Anrea Mutti.
The book, which would be the first of the trilogy, will come out in November. As a novel the first book has sold over 60 million copies worldwide. In the U.S. alone, the trilogy tops 17 million copies in paper with an additional 3.5 million in digital.
“We’re thrilled to be adapting this incredible story into a series of graphic novels,” said Vertigo’s executive editor Karen Berger. “Denise, Lee, Leonardo and Andrea have such great passion for the material and stylistically they’re a perfect match to bring it to comics life. Their beautifully dark and visceral work will certainly blow us all away.”
